BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — The Office of Delegate Harry Bhandari joined Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) on Wednesday, September 30, for the groundbreaking of the college’s $28 million Transportation Technology Center expansion at the Catonsville campus. Chief of Staff, Sadiksha Basnet represented Delegate Bhandari at the event and joined the ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating renovations to the existing facility.

The expansion will add a 21,000-square-foot, one-story, high-bay instructional facility with vehicle access and a loading dock, along with classrooms, specialized automotive technology laboratories, offices and support spaces. The expanded center will prepare students for careers involving traditional vehicles as well as electric and other alternative-fuel technologies.
The project also includes $1.9 million in renovations to the existing Transportation Technology Center. The improvements include reconfigured instructional spaces, new offices, right-sized classrooms and a new compressor room designed to provide students and faculty with a more modern and efficient learning environment.
“Community colleges play an important role in connecting students with the skills and training that employers need,” said Delegate Harry Bhandari. “As transportation technology continues to change, investments like this give students opportunities to gain hands-on experience with emerging technologies while preparing for careers in a growing industry. I am pleased to see CCBC continuing to invest in workforce development and in the future of students across Baltimore County.”
The Transportation Technology Center expansion is part of CCBC’s broader efforts to strengthen career and technical education and respond to changes in the transportation workforce. The new facility is expected to be completed in November 2027.
The Office of Delegate Bhandari thanks CCBC for the invitation and congratulates the college, students, faculty and project partners on this important milestone for workforce education in Baltimore County.
