Baltimore, MD – September 24, 2024 – Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown filed a lawsuit yesterday against the owners and operators of the MV DALI, whose negligence led to the collapse of the Francis Scott Key (FSK) Bridge on March 26. The incident resulted in the tragic deaths of six workers and caused widespread disruptions to the state’s infrastructure.

Attorney General Brown stated, “This disaster was preventable. These companies failed in their responsibilities, and Marylanders should not be left paying for their negligence.” The lawsuit seeks damages to cover the replacement of the bridge, lost toll revenue, emergency response costs, and environmental impacts.

Governor Wes Moore added, “We will not allow Maryland taxpayers to shoulder the costs of this tragedy. We are committed to holding those responsible accountable.”

State Delegate Dr. Harry Bhandari expressed his support for the lawsuit, stating, “This legal action is crucial to ensure justice for the people of Maryland. We must hold these companies accountable for the lives lost and the damage caused.”
